Farmers Market at the Union
Description: Begining September 2, 2010, the student-run market will be held every Thursday from 10 am-2 pm, excluding winter and spring breaks. The market is in Mother’s Wine Emporium in the Student Union from November to March and outside the Union from April to October. There are 6-7 potential vendors selling produce, cheese, and baked goods, as well as a possible vendor from the Asian Market in Albany.
Goal: To better connect the Rensselaer community with the local food system and expose it to a new way of buying healthy and safe food. To complement the existing markets in Troy, such as the Saturday market, and contribute to the local economy and increase community ties.
